Publication fund

The European University Viadrina supports its members with a publication fund for publishing in Open Access.

Since 2023, the publication fund has enabled members of the university to receive financial support for publication costs for journal articles (APCs = Article Processing Charges). 

If no project funds, material funds or third-party funding are available, authors may apply for support from the publication fund. The support consists of covering Open Access publication fees.

Before submitting an application, please check the reliability and academic integrity of the journal and the publisher. To ensure quality standards, a countersignature by the Dean’s Office or the head of the ZWE (Zentrale Wirtschaftseinheit) is required.

The amount of funding available in 2026 depends on the number of applications received and on the overall budget of the publication fund. This regulation is expected to apply until the end of 2026. After reviewing the figures, the procedure will be evaluated. For publications in journals, the maximum funding amount is 3.000,00 € per article.

The costs for publications with publishers covered by the DEAL agreements (Elsevier, Springer and Wiley), as well as Taylor & Francis, are fully covered.

Through cooperation with the Brandenburg Open Access Networking and Competence Centre, it is possible this year to apply for funding for open access publications via the Publication Fund for Monographs of the State of Brandenburg.
