Union catalogue for estates and autographs
Research in all catalogued holdings of the Karl Dedecius Archive and in other archives in Germany, Austria and Switzerland
Read moreThe Karl Dedecius Archive is an archive of literary and cultural mediators. It collects the bequests and estates of outstanding personalities who have rendered outstanding services to literary and cultural exchange between Germany and Poland. These individuals primarily include translators, but also researchers, journalists, politicians and socially committed collectors.
The archive was founded by Karl Dedecius, a translator of Polish literature into German. On 15 July 2001, he entrusted his working archive to the European University Viadrina with the wish to house it in the Collegium Polonicum in Słubice. His legacy has become the nucleus of an institution that has since grown to include several collections totalling 500 linear metres of files and a library of several hundred volumes.
