Journals and newspapers
General information
The library's holdings of journals and newspapers are indexed in the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC). To refine your search, use the filter “Publication Form: Journal, Newspaper, …”.
Bound journal volumes are typically located at the beginning of the relevant subject area and shelved according to the call number specified in the OPAC. Current issues are displayed alphabetically by title in the journal areas assigned to specific disciplines (General Studies, Cultural Studies, Law, and Economics).
In addition to the OPAC, you can consult:
• The Journal Database (ZDB) for detailed information on our print and electronic journal holdings across institutions.
• The Electronic Journals Library (EZB) for access to full-text electronic journals. Accessibility is clearly indicated using a traffic light system (green = freely accessible; yellow/red = restricted or unavailable).
Accessing online journal articles
To locate specific journal articles, we recommend using specialized article databases, including:
ViaCat (interdisciplinary search portal)
BASE (Bielefeld Academic Search Engine)
Ingenta
IBZ-Online (International Bibliography of Periodical Literature)
A tutorial video is available via YouTube, demonstrating how to search and access electronic journal articles effectively.
Newspaper Access
For full-text access to newspaper articles, the library offers the Wiso database (Business Practice module). This platform provides a wide selection of national and international newspapers. Each entry includes metadata on coverage periods and full-text availability. Many issues allow complete PDF downloads of original newspaper pages.
The library maintains subscriptions to key daily and weekly newspapers, including:
Der Tagesspiegel
taz. die tageszeitung
Die Zeit
Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ)
Märkische Oderzeitung (MOZ)
Neue Zürcher Zeitung
Süddeutsche Zeitung (Online)
Current issues are accessible on the ground floor. Archived issues are retained for six months and are available in the textbook collection area.
